USE OF MODERN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
The
simplest form of technology is the development and the use of basic tools.
Development in historical items including the printing press, the telephone and
the internet have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed
humans to interact freely on a global scale.
Technology
has many effects. It has helped to developed more advanced economics (including
tody's global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Not only
that some technological processes produced unwanted products too which known as
pollution and deplete natural resources to the detriment of earth's
environment. Innovations have always influenced the value of a society and
raised new questions of the ethics of technology.
Educational
technology is the study and ethical practices of facilitation learning and
improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological
process and resources. It is the use of both physical hardware and educational
theories. It encompasses several domains including learning theory, computer
based training, online learning and where mobile technologies are used,
M-learning. Accordingly there are several discrete aspects to describing the
intellectual and technical development of educational technology:
Educational technology as the theory and practice of
educational approaches to learning.
- Educational technology as the technological tools and media for instance massive online course that assists in the communication of knowledge and its development and exchange.
- Educational technology for learning management system(LMS), such as tools for students and curriculum management and education management information system(EMIS).
- Educational technology as the back office management such as training management system for logistics and budget management and learning record store for learning data storage and analysis.
- Educational technology itself as an educational subject such courses may be called computer studies or information and communication technology.
Modern
electronic educational technology is an important part of society today. It
encompases E-learning, instructional technology, information and communication
technology, in education Ed. technology. Learning technology multimedia
learning, technology enhanced learning, computer based instruction or computer
aided instruction, internet based training, flexible learning, computer
mediated communication, cyber learning and multi model instruction, virtual
education, personal learning environments, networked learning, virtual learning
environment, M-learning and digital education.
Educational
technology is an inclusive term for both the material tools and the theoretical
foundations for supporting learning and teaching. It is not restricted to high
technology but is anything that enhances classroom learning in the utilization
of blended face to face learning or online learning.
Use
of educational technology started from very early tools as writing on the walls
of caves, writing on slates and blackboard, scratch marking on trees, counting
pebbles and small pieces of stones. From the such introduction books and
pamphlets have held a prominent role in education than after development of
educational technology tools are introduced rapidly and at present context the
use of modern educational technology are able to cover the multiple areas such
as E-learning, online distance learning or M-learning,etc. use of pen drive,
CD,DVDreplacing the use of books, copies and pens. Computers, tablets and
mobile devices can be used instead of piles of books and copies.
Different
social networks like webpages, blogs, wikis, and twitter allow learners and
educators to post thei thoughts, ideas and comments on a website in an
interactive learning environment. Social networking sites or virtual
communities for people interested in particular subjects to communities for
people interested in particular subject to communicate by voice, chat, instant
message, video conference or blogs. The national school board association found
that about 96% of students with online access have used social networking
technology and more than 50% talk online about schoolwork. Social networking
encourages collaboration and engagement and can be a motivational tools for self
efficiency amongst students.
Webcams
and webcasting have enabled creation of virtual classrooms and virtual learning
environment. Webcams are also being used to counter plagiarism and other forms
of academic dishonesty that might occur in an E-learning environment.
Screen
casting allos users to share their screen directly from their browser and make
the video available online so that other viewers can stream the video directly.
The presenters are able to show their ideas and flow of thoughts rather than
simply explain them as simple text content.
Virtual
classrooms provides the opportunities for students to receive direct
instructions fro a qualified teacher in an interactive environment. Learners
can have direct and immediate access to their instructor for instant feedback
and direction. The virtual classroom provides a structured schedule of class
which can be helpful for students.
In
conclusion can be said- modern educational technology can improve access to
education including full degree programs. It enables better integration for
non-full-time students, particularly in continuing education and improved
interactions between students and instructors. Learning materials can be used
for long distance learning and are accessible to a wider audience course
materials are easy to access. Students appreciate the convenience of
E-learning.
